POLYPHONIC | 2015

Polyphonic is an exploration on how time, tactility and interaction can reconfigure a classical musical performance; both from the musical perspective and from the musicians’ experience of the audience’s presence and participation.

Part interactive instrument and part enchanted object, Polyphonic consists of an octahedron that becomes alive by playing music through participants’ touch. Each side of the octahedron plays a different variation of the classical piece “Otto Variazioni (Eight variations)” from composer Aldo Clementi when touched by the audience. Simultaneously, the piece is played live in it’s pure form creating a polyphony of sounds. Audio-responsive visuals projected on this enchanted object complete the piece.

Made with openFrameworks and Bare Conductive’s Touch Board.
