MOVEMENT DATA

Sync is a tool that allows visualizations of x, y and z points in space that represent body parts or joints, or links between these, in real-time. This movement data allows designers and artists to work with movement and build interactions upon the possible data readings.

I’ve had the opportunity to explore Sync and participate in workshops for the development of this tool. By looking into the design process behind Sync, I have learned to tease out movement as design material, to think of contexts of use and to take into account the presence that body movement conveys, learning how to design for body-movement based interactions.

Sync is a project by Lise Amy Hansen, PhD at AHO (Arkitekturhøgskolen i Oslo).
This tool was developed in collaboration with Hellicar&Lewis.
