Play Workshop Khio

1play23@2x

I was invited to give a workshop on Play at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Khio) in the Autumn of 2013.

In this workshop, I started by giving a brief talk on play and how it can be an important part of the design process. Afterwards,  I facilitated materials (cardboard props) in which teams of students were encouraged to create a game or a playful situation, and to work around constraints for each particular team.

They came up with different games, from crawling on cloth to reach a “cave” (more like a team-building exercise), to a goal oriented “score” game, aiming arrows at a target (a box), or a more complex game of points and cards.

In this workshop, participants explored new ways of thinking, collaborating and allowing play into their practice.
